Man Jumps Into Mahanadi

A man went missing after jumping into the Mahanadi river from the Jagatpur bridge in Cuttack city on Sunday. The person was identified as Debasish Das, a Laboratory Assistant of the BJB College in Bhubaneswar.
Debasish, who lived in the Chauliaganj area here, reached the Jagatpur bridge and jumped into the river. He got swept away by the water of the swollen river within minutes.
While the local police and Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot immediately and launched a rescue operation Debasish remained untraced. The reason behind the Debasish taking the extreme step was yet to be ascertained. However, a friend of Debasish said he was distressed over some dispute with his brother. But he does not know the exact reason behind Debasish taking this extreme decision.
