11 Killed, 6 Hurt In Pittsburgh Mass Shooting; Gunman Held

Pittsburgh: At least 11 persons were killed while six others, including four police officers, sustained bullet injuries after a man armed with a semi-automatic assault rifle stormed into the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh and shot worshipers during Shabbat services on Saturday.
Fully armed with an AR-15-style assault rifle and at least three handguns, a man shouting anti-Semitic slurs opened fire inside the Pittsburgh synagogue.
The shooter has been identified as Robert Bowers (46) who is a local of Pittsburgh.
The mass shooting targeted members of a synagogue that is an anchor of Pittsburgh’s Jewish community. The assault is also termed as one of the deadliest attack on Jews in the history of the United States.
The massacre has been immediately labeled as a hate crime by authorities as they investigated the suspect’s anti-Semitic online history. The 46-year-old local man has also been charged with 18 other offences.
According to available information, accused Bowers also sustained injuries during the incident but the authorities said it was unclear whether those wounds were self-inflicted or received in the police firing.
Bowers was admitted to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where his condition is stated stable.
