SCB Medical College And Hospital Receive Major Transformation By 2024

The SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack of Odisha is set to undergo major transformation in infrastructure and total bed capacity at an estimated cost of Rs 3500 Crores by 2024. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has reviewed the development of the work during a meeting on Thursday. The CM has set 1st  January 2024 for inauguration of the new SCB Medical College and Hospital which will be an AIIMs Plus institution.

The highlighted points of the project are as follows:

1) A world class medical facility with state of art technology.
2) Construction in around 175 acres of land.
3) A total of 5000 beds for patients. In the first phase the hospital will have 3500  beds and which will be later increased to 5000.
4) 1280 government quarters to be constructed in the campus for health workers.
5) Additional accommodation for 2200 students in the campus to be made.
6) Setting of independent committee for functioning of Medical College.
7) An objective to transform the MCH into ‘AIIMS Plus.’
