Partial Lockdown In Odisha Up To July 1

Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra has announced partial lockdown upto 5 am July 1. As per his declaration, 17 districts in the State, where the Positivity Rate is 5 percent or less, have been identified as Category A districts, and the remaining 13 districts, having more positivity rate, have been identified as Category B districts.

Category A districts include Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada, Subarnapur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Boudh, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Rayagada.

Category B districts include Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Kedrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur,  Angul, Dhenkanal, and Keonjhar.

While the sale of essential items will be allowed from 6 AM to 5 PM in Category A districts, the same will be allowed from 6 AM to 1 PM in Category B districts.

The restrictions on marriage, cremation, meetings, social gatherings, and the opening of temples will continue as before.

Keeping in view the livelihood of milk farmers, the government has decided to open sweet shops. Cycle and automobile shops will also be allowed to open. 

Morning walk, jogging will be allowed from 6 am to 9 am, but the parks and gyms will remain closed. 

Cinema halls, swimming pools, malls, salons, and parlours will remain closed. The prohibition on movie shooting will also continue.

Street vending for takeaways will be allowed in only 17 districts under Category A.

All educational institutions and coaching centres will remain closed. There will be no inter-state or intra-state movement of buses, he added.

Odisha-Chattisgarh and Odisha-Jharkhand have been opened from today. However, the border Between Odisha-West Bengal and Odisha-AP will continue to be closed due to surge in these states

The Covid-19 lockdown was initially imposed in the State from May 5 to May 17. However, it was first extended to June 1 and subsequently to June 17 following the rise in infections in the State.

Meanwhile, Government and private offices can function with 50 percent staff strength. Collectors and Municipal Commissioners have been empowered to take action against the violators of the Covid-19 guidelines.
