Police Nabs Accused Of Bhadrak Double Murder, Rape From Bhubaneswar

Bhadrak: In a major breakthrough in the sensational murder of a woman and rape of her daughter in Dhamnagar area in Bhadrak district, police arrested the main accused Gopinath Mohanty alias Babua from Chandrasekharpur area in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

In the meanwhile, police also recovered the body of the deceased woman’s husband from a canal adjacent to NH-26 near Dhamnagar. The deceased was identified as Rabindra Behuria.

The sensational double murder took place at Talasitha village under Dhamnagar Police Station area in the district on Sunday night, which has sent shockwave across the state.

Sources in the police said during interrogation the accused have confessed to have committed the crime of murdering the couple before raping their daughter.

Police said Babua was adopted son of the couple for the past ten years. Babua also told the police that he murdered the couple to take revenge, as they used to harass her mother. Despite of planning to eliminate them since his childhood, the accused did not find a chance except that fateful night.

On Sunday night he initially murdered Rabindra near Bakripur and hid the body under a culvert. Later he reached the deceased man’s house and stoned the woman identified as Bhaktilata Behuria to death with a grinding stone.

The accused also attempted to kill the deceased couple’s daughter after raping her but before that he fled the spot as some neighbours and relatives arrived at the house after hearing noises.
